Secrets of Success: Stop giving a f@ck
People are always asking me for advice on how to become rich, famous, and successful. I always ask them, "Why do you want to become rich, famous, and successful?"
It's funny because they never have a good answer. "Look," I tell them, "You don't really want to be rich, famous, and successful, but since you asked, I'll let you in on the secret."
"Like the book?" They'll reply, the sparkle in their innocent eyes betraying their eagerness.
"No, not like that piece of crap marketing scam. I'm talking about the real deal, here."
And they'll sit there, waiting for me to go on. But I don't. I stop there to build suspense and to solidify the point.
"What is it?" They'll finally give in and ask.
"Stop giving a f@ck." I say.
Either you get that, or you don't. If you don't get it, you never will, and you might as well turn your focus to extracting maximum happiness out of life instead of continuing to tilt at the windmills of glory and fortune. Those windmills are totally overrated anyway, and even if you do manage to slay them, the only way to deal with them in a rational manner is to not give a f@ck. Again: either you get this or you do not.
The thing is, once you no longer give a f@ck, you are free from fear. If you don't understand how fear is the great slave trader of souls, you never will, and I really don't give a f@ck.

#1 This is BS
Just in case you couldn't tell.
Here's what I really think
First, we have to define "success." This will differ from person to person. Your definition of success is yours alone. (and you shouldn't give a f@ck what anybody else's is)
Second, you must give a great big f@ck about the things that you give a f@ck about. I give a f@ck about my music. Making music and, with any luck, in some way enhancing the lives of others that way, is an important part of my definition of success (and I don't give a f@ck if some people don't like my music. Let them listen to Bon Jovi all the time - no skin off my teeth [I like Bon Jovi once in a while, too]. Neither do I give a f@ck if some people think of music making as a pointless waste of time, nor if some people get the wrong idea and think I think I'm really great; I'm not, no greater than anybody else, at least. I'm just a guy who likes to rock, and when I have that opportunity, I am successful. You see?).
Third, you must do the work. (and don't give a f@ck that this entails doing some things that you might not want to do.)
Finally, be here now. Take care of what's right in front of your face and everything else will fall into place.

Peace.
