Words that Sell Lead to Marketing Success
Sexy breakthrough eliminates fat, puts money in your pocket!
Do you believe in magic pills or other quick fixes? No? Join the club. Even so, the Great American Medicine Show continues its long and hugely successful run. Viva Viagra.
Some of these things do actually seem to work. Just as the old snake-oil salesman's cocaine-opium-whisky concoction could "Cure what ails ya'!" (in a way) so does Viagra unjam the firing mechanism in the aging man's shotgun.
But at what cost? Seriously -- how much? When my libido goes the way of uncle Guido's, I'll have to budget for it.
The astute reader has guessed that this post is about marketing, magic words, not magic pills. Magic words have greased the wheels of commerce since long before the days of, "Step right up, ladies and gentlemen, and behold the miracle cure for all that ails you!" Those words used to draw enormous crowds of paying suckers over and over again. Now the words are different, but the concept is the same. Marketing is all about word selection. Words push emotional buttons. Combine the right verbal incantation with the right music and imagery, and -- look out -- you can sell pretty boxes filled with cat turds to millions of MalWart shoppers.
TV is the new medicine show. Step right up...
Not that there's anything wrong with TV, mind you. I'm sure the medicine shows were lots of fun, and so are TV shows. Just, you know, be careful about the ads because, for the most part, they really are trying to sucker you into buying crap that you don't want or need.
The point of this post was to get you reading, to lure you in with magic word combinations like "marketing success." Everybody wants that, right? So here you are. There was no sexy breakthrough, and if you want to reduce the amount of fat on your body, I'd advise that you take in fewer calories and burn more through exercise.

#1 I guess what I'm trying to say is...
... that if you use the right words, you can sell turds.
