Occupy Wall Street -- Dirty Hippies Just Like Jesus
Jefferson Quote Protest Sign: Sign at Occupy Wall Street, San FranciscoThe Occupy Wall Street protest is percolating nicely. This is history in the making, folks, and Gil Scot Heron seems to have called it correctly: so far, the revolution is not being televised. I guess it's news when 12 losers take a break from burger chomping to gather on the Washington Mall to spout some moronic drivel about how rich people shouldn't have to pay taxes or soshulism or some shit, but when thousands of people take a stand for days on end, round the clock -- meh, who cares, right?
Mark my words, brothers and sisters: This is the beginning of the revolution in America. We build a new world starting now. We detoxify this system of the rot of corruption starting now. This small group of people is the seed of something great. You saw the footage from Egypt. People will only take so much.
This economic train wreck brought to us by the greedy coke-snorting whore mongers of Wall Street is actually a blessing in disguise. When people can't find jobs, they don't really have anything better to do than revolt. And -- make no mistake -- it is time for a revolt. Nothing short of a revolution will save the world at this point. We will destroy this beautiful planet. We will enslave ourselves. UNLESS we start taking care of this beautiful planet and freeing ourselves. That process starts now. It starts with you, right now, deciding to show up for the game; "showing up" in the sense a football coach might use the expression, as in, "The team showed up for the game today," meaning they played their hearts out.
Yeah, these kids look like a bunch of dirty hippies. Jesus was a dirty hippie. Socrates was a dirty hippie. George Washington was a dirty hippie. (You didn't really think he was clean-shaven and dressed to the nines after narrowly escaping with his life so many times, did you?) Dirty hippies are, historically, the ones with the balls to turn over the money changers' tables, corrupt the youth, flip the king the bird and make shit happen. So, to the Occupy Wall Street kids, I want to say...
Thank you!!!!
Thank you for being dirty hippies and having the guts to do what you're doing which -- clearly -- desperately needs to be done. Let's work toward a world where everyone taps into the tremendous abundance this miraculous mothership called Earth affords us. The primary assumption of economics -- scarcity, limited resources and unlimited desire -- is dead wrong. The truth is abundance and satisfaction. Scarcity and unlimited desire are fictions fabricated by those who want to take more than their fair share. "More than their fair share" refers to so much more than their gluttony for the material. Figure that out for yourself.
It is time for We the People to rise up and speak with one voice for liberty and justice. It is time for We the People to demand our birthright, our human rights, to exercise the civic muscle that has atrophied so badly over the past 30 years. It is time, people. The moment is upon us.
