Afghanistan could be for Obama what Mogadishu was for Clinton -- times 1,000
God, I hate writing about this shit. When will people learn?
First of all, I want to make perfectly clear my first concern, which is for the lives of the people who will be killed and maimed by Obama's asinine decision to apply military force to the burgeoning Afghanistan disaster. You can't introduce 17,000 more armed occupants into a hostile environment and expect anything other than increased bloodshed. (Cue John McCain saying, "But the surge worked!") Secondarily my concern is for my country.
Other than that, I couldn't give less of a f*(k if I were a 93-year-old eunuch. Political careers are going to crash and burn. Rush Limbaugh will have a ball. People will say, "Gee, CharlieHipHop, you were right again." None of that matters to me. Read it all

Hail to the new Chief, and good luck to you, Mr. President!
It was as if dark clouds gave way to brilliant sunshine, the warm rays of hope obliterating pelting rain. He spoke of reconciliation, of progress, of peace, of leading the world out of this mess. He drew not cynically upon our fear but on our better natures, our sense of community and can-do-it-edness. Turning the page on the nightmarish Duhbya chapter in American history, he moved us forward in our national narrative in a way that no president has, certainly no president of the last 100 years. Will President Obama ever push for legalization of marijuana?
(or anything else remotely progressive?)
With the election safely won for the good guys (or at least the not-as-bad guys), I will freely admit that one of the reasons I supported Obama was that I thought he might be persuaded to lead America toward a sane drug policy, including the full legalization and prudent regulation of marijuana. Alas, I seem to have set my hopes too high (so to speak). Why do American politicians have to be such politicians? We need leaders, damn it! Read it all

[Barack Obama didn't need my help in writing his résumé, but I'd like to think that my version of it swayed a few votes his way. I'm really proud of this piece. It made me feel like I had done my part, especially since it got so many views. With any luck, Obama won't let us down and we'll be able to add a considerable number of accomplishments to his CV before the 2012 campaign. ;)]

Shocker: Obama Not Perfect
Don't get me wrong: I love this guy. He represents America's greatest hope at this critical moment in our history. The historic address moved me to tears of pure joy at 20 points. Before I reveal what I disliked (and I deeply disliked those things) about the speech, let me list a few things that I loved about it:

Mickey Mouse now runs presidential debates. (ABC News is a wholly owned subsidiary of Disney in case you didn't know.) Is that funny or sad? Read it all

Barack Obama's comment about small-town America was poorly worded but true. It may have been the most important thing he has said in this entire campaign. If nothing else, the fact that he would make such a blunt statement proves that he is the true-blue candidate of the people. In American politics, everything has been so scripted to such a sickening extent for so long that we are shocked -- SHOCKED, I tell you -- when a candidate speaks words that are not pre-approved by 36 consultants. Can you imagine having a great orator as president after eight years of His Shrubness? After hearing Obama's speech on race in Philadelphia, now I can, and it is a sweet thought indeed. Read it all
