Recent volatility in the stock markets signals a crash. Past performance is no guarantee of future returns, but every major market meltdown in the history of the world has been preceded by a period of volatility. The wild swings of the last couple of weeks are unprecedented: down 600 one day, up 400 the next, down 300 the next, up 500 the next, and so on. Read it all
Look, I don't want to scare anybody. I've been warning about the dollar bubble for a few years now. Now that the credit rating of the United States of America is less than perfect, well... it has come to pass. The dollar is screwed. So is the euro and every other "hard" currency. The jig is up. Yeah, I know it's not my generation's thing, but I'm still entitled to opine...
Thanks to the oppressive heat, I saw my first Harry Potter movie on Friday night. Judging from the amount of money this franchise has generated, I must be the only person on the planet who has never read a single page of the books or seen any of the movies. All I knew about Harry Potter prior to this quest for air conditioned comfort was that he wore glasses and was some kind of magic dude. Seriously, I do not know who these people are or why they're famous. Checking the WikiPedia entry on Kim -- apparently the most famous Kardashian -- leaves me more baffled.
Their father was a lawyer, one of O.J.'s lawyers. OK. Read it all
Those of you who visit regularly will notice that changes are afoot. So far I've got a skeleton of a new style going and a foundation of some cool new features. Once the skin is on the bones and the building starts to stand on the foundation, it should be cool.
Even though there is a grand unified plan guiding this project, as usual, I'm doing a million things at once so this will come together over time and appear somewhat chaotic to the untrained eye. Good progress has been made in the past two days. We're ahead of schedule. Read it all
A few people have asked me to weigh in on the Charlie Sheen debacle (and I use that word "debacle" with intention) so now that I have a few minutes to spare, let me do that.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
- Corinthians, 13:4-7
Doesn't anybody know how to write love songs anymore?
Or maybe nobody knows what love is
Or maybe "The Man" just doesn't want to promote love and those sorts of things...
Is it just me, or is every goddamn song on commercial radio about how much somebody "needs" somebody else? It's all, "Oooh, baby, you're so hot. I need you so bad." Blah blah blah.
Pooches Spa provides dog boarding, grooming, and doggie day care services that are a cut above. They really pulled out all the stops to make it a fun, clean, healthy experience for dogs of all shapes and sizes.
It's just a few minutes from Grand Central Station and offers superior service at half the price of a crowded, flithy Manhattan doggie day care or kennel.
Man, that was some weird ass storm! Never seen so many downed trees... weird thing was only one person was killed and property damage was miraculously minimal.
